Our vision: ESG as a value-creation driver

Drawing on our experience, we are firmly convinced that incorporating responsible investment objectives into our investment process enhances portfolio value. It allows us to better manage risks, strengthen company resilience, and increase their long term attractiveness.

This belief underpins our approach to integrating ESG principles into our day-to-day operations. We embed ESG considerations into our investment decisions and proactively engage with our portfolio companies, with the aim of generating sustainable financial and non-financial value over the long term.

Our approach

Sienna Private Equity is a sustainable investor throughout the investment cycle, with ESG being key in our investment process to ensure sustainability of value creation:

  • We strictly follow our exclusion policy and exclude companies with activities or behaviours contrary to human rights or our own values
  • Systematic integration of ESG occurs at every single step of our investment process, for all investment opportunities
  • We seek to improve environmental and social performance within our portfolio companies, by defining clear ESG roadmaps and closely monitoring progress

We are co-building an ESG ambition with all our portfolio companies, regardless of the sectors in which they operate, and are committed to working alongside our companies on four ESG pillars that are priorities for us and for our investors:

  • Climate: We intend to play our part as investors and to support our portfolio companies to progressively align with climate targets
  • Diversity, equality & inclusion: We strongly believe that companies promoting diversity, equality & inclusion are more resilient and innovative, and work closely with our portfolio companies to promote these dimensions
  • Biodiversity: We aim to enrich our environmental approach with actions to preserve and restore biodiversity
  • Governance: We are convinced that it is critical for portfolio companies to have appropriate ESG governance in place, as a first step to implement any ESG measure.
